How to remember all the normal ranges? Tell a salty tale...
Surrounding it all (outside the cell) is sodium (Na+) at 135-145. Just gotta remember this number. Sodium pumps together with potassium (K+) at 3.5-5. 135, 3.5... Drop it down a bit to phosphate (PO43-) to 2.5-4.5 I didn't really understand magnesium (Mg2+) until I was 18 and 5 years later I forgot it...1.8-2.3 You don't want to eighty-six that calcium (Ca2+), it's important 8.6-10.2 Chloride (Cl-) is broadcasting way up on the radio dial at 97-107 All this is upsetting; I'll give you a quarter for some bicarbonate (HCO3-) 25-29
Where do they all live? You gotta pump up the cell...PMP-Potassium, Magnesium, and Phosphate are intracellular. Everything else is mostly outside the cell.
And since we're here, remember that pH is 7.35-7.45 and PaCO2 is 35-45
